The new multi-family market in Edmonton offers a wide range of homes and prices to meet almost anyone’s budget and lifestyle goals, from affordable entry-level apartments in the suburban market to luxury highrise condos in the downtown. The strong growth in demand experienced in 2006 and 2007 encouraged many developers to build more multi- family product across the city, giving buyers a more diverse range of home styles, price points, and lifestyles than was previously available.
The recent economic downturn forced many consumers to re-evaluate their housing needs which resulted in a significant decline in sales in late 2008. This drop in demand has allowed many builders to catch up on construction.
